You could try calling the DVLA to see if they can provide an update on your application, but chances are it'll take a while to get through to them. To find the provisional reference number, once you applied for a provisional, they sent you a confirmation email whatever email you have given them and there you will find written the reference number, that is for the provisional website tracking thingy. So use that.
