Why didnt luffy fight bellamy

A drunk customer after relieving himself thought a newspaper but dropped. He picked it up and realized it was a stack of wanted posters. On going through the posters, he recognized Luffy and Zoro's faces and laughed when he saw their bounties thinking he was too drunk. He became extremely surprised that their bounties were so high to the point of being higher than Bellamy's bounty. Luffy had begun making his way to Mock Town. Meanwhile, Sarquiss was telling of the event that occurred between their crew and the Saruyama alliance.

Soon the drunk man who picked up the wanted posters came into the bar and showed it to all who were in the bar including Bellamy. Bellamy tried to counter the poster saying there are pirates who try to increase their bounties and their opponents become scared and would not fight them. He referred to Luffy and Zoro's event where he beat them up earlier in the day.

While the bar customers were trying to justify the situation, Luffy arrived and yelled Bellamy's name requesting his whereabouts. One Piece Wiki Explore. Spin-Offs Video Games. Luffy has fought countless battles on his journey so far and through them, he's become one of the most powerful pirates in the entire world. However, despite being as strong as he is, Luffy has actually lost quite a lot of fights.

This is mostly down to the trickery of the opponents that he faces, sometimes, his own goofiness, and at other times, the battles just aren't worth fighting. In a bar, Bellamy and his men attacked Monkey D. Luffy and Zoro and the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates chose not to fight back because he was up against an 'empty' pirate with no ambition and dreams. As Shanks once taught him, not every battle is worth fighting with your fists. Technically, Luffy won the battle against Bellamy, however, in terms of physical combat, Bellamy beat both Luffy and Zoro, only to get one-shot by Luffy later on in the arc.

Enel was the main antagonist of the Skypiea arc and a man who was deemed to be invincible there. He had the powers of the Logia type Goro Goro no Mi which let him become lightning and also control it at will. Unfortunately for Enel, Luffy was his perfect match as his Devil Fruit made him impervious to his attacks.

Despite that, Enel was able to beat Luffy once by simply throwing him off the Ark Maxim and continued his plan to destroy Skypiea. Had it not been for Nami and the Straw Hat Pirates helping him, Luffy would never have reached Enel again and lost the battle despite being more than capable of defeating him. From the start, One Piece shows a level of maturity beyond what most people would expect. Higuma gets annoyed at Shanks for clearing out all the alcohol in the bar, and goes as far as to smash a bottle in his face.

Higuma brags about his infamy, and then mocks the pirates for not fighting back as he leaves. He was no threat to the pirates, so the only time they bothered to fight back was when he gave them a real reason to fight by threatening someone. We get a much clearer picture of this later, when Bellamy tries to pick a fight with Luffy and Zoro on Jaya.

He ruthlessly mocks them for believing in a legend like the Sky Island, and attacks them to see how strong they are. Rather than rise to his taunts, Luffy and Zoro refuse to fight back, even has he smashes them into the furniture and rants about how the era of dreams is over. He calls them cowards with no pride and tosses them out of the bar, but they just dust themselves off and leave.

The fact of the matter is, Bellamy was nothing. Consider what he actually said. When you come down to it, saying that people are going to stop taking risks and chasing dreams is just absurd. This is doubly true in the world of One Piece, with all of its legends, supernatural powers, and unknown phenomenon. With Blackbeard, Luffy had a reason to fight dumb as it was , while fighting Bellamy would be fighting for its own sake. Either they were doing something he found reprehensible, or they hurt someone he cared about.

Either way, he always had some tangible reason to fight. Luffy always treats fighting as a way to accomplish a real goal, not just a way to show off. Compared to every other opponent, even the weaker ones, Bellamy never gave Luffy a reason to fight beyond mere insults.
